Entry Deadline Extended for Bend Long Course Swim Meet 2

Dear OMS Swimmer,

As I write, 27 swimmers have registered for the OMS Long Course Swim Meet in Bend on Sat 16 May. OMS Data Manager Gary Whitman has graciously extended the entry deadline to Mon 11 May so that I can recruit a few more swimmers to round out the field for this rare opportunity to swim long course. You can find entry information and sign up at http://swimoregon.org/events/2015-coma-long-course-meter-pentathlon-meet/.

Remember that you can also participate in a basic open water clinic on Saturday morning and/or the famous Lake Juniper Buoy Swim and brunch on Sunday morning. You can find entry info and mail-in forms at http://swimoregon.org/events/lake-juniper-pool-swim/.

Please consider joining us. I’d love to see enjoy a beautiful weekend in Bend with us!

Cheers,

Bob Bruce
COMA Meet Director

The “Lake Juniper” swim is the season opener for the Oregon Open water series. The series is a batch of open water swims, (mostly pristine oregon lakes and one river swim). “lake Juniper” is actually conducted in the large 50 meter pool by swimming 12-100 meter loops on the outer edge of the pool. The corners are marked with buoys and the swim is run in groups of about 20 swimmers. This is a great opportunity to . . get your feet wet in the exciting sport of open water swimming. There is an open water clinic the day before to learn some techniques, the swim on Sunday followed by a brunch and chance to make some new friends. This is a great reason to get away to Bend Oregon for the weekend. See you there. Robin B.
